New Features for version 4.x
Delivery Types icom/400 is the industry’s leading monitoring and messaging system to deliver your notifications via several methods.  icom/400's newest delivery types include:
Console - With this delivery type, you will have the ability to send system messages or predefined user messages to a remote system where critical system message can be answered and escalation processes acknowledged on one central system.  Once answered on the remote system using the WRKCONICM command or menu option, the messages and escalation will update on the local system they came from.
Note: Added the ability for the user to add remote systems. This is closely related to console monitoring. Since each system needs to know what remote system to connect to for icom to use console monitoring, we added the ease of use for users to select a menu option to create and manage their own remote systems used to send messages to the specified remote system. We also added this feature to the recipient setup screens for console delivery type. This way you can select and manage remote systems from those setup screens too.
Monitors icom/400's newest monitors or changes include:
Added the ability to the existing remote device monitor(*RMTDEV) to run an action if the monitor reports back a response or non-response when polling a remote system. The response specified will determine if the action will be run or not.
Added a hold option for message queue and QHST monitors.
New monitor IFS monitor - Detects the presence of file objects in an IFS folder.
Added a user field to the spooled file (*SPLF) monitor.
Added a email subject field to the message queue entries section of a message queue (*MSGQ) monitor.
Extended the spooled file attachment name to 30 characters from 8 characters in the spooled file monitor split information.
Actions  Added an email subject line feature to use with actions when using them in a monitor.  See Commands and Monitors sections to see other ways to use an email subject line.
Delivery

Some of the icom/400 new delivery features include:

New feature to notify an administrator if an email delivery type message errors out.
Added email bundling to recipient setup. Now you can send to multiple email addresses for one recipient name. This makes it possible to see all the email addresses in the header information instead of one at a time per message.
System Attributes
Added the ability to specify another email server SMTP address, so if your first server is having problems and icom/400 gets errors from the specific IP address, it will try to resort to the secondary email server.
Added number of retries icom/400 will try to send an email message before it will error the message out.
Network

Added the remote update command (RMTUPDICM). This gives the user the ability to update icom/400 files from one system to another without the hassle of finding and copying files manually.
Console monitoring - See above Delivery types for more description.
Quick Start Wizard Added being able to add remote systems and console delivery type to the Quick Start Wizard. This is good for first time and/or even current users to be a quick way to add new recipients and delivery types to the icom/400 system.
Commands

Some of the icom/400 new commands and changes include:

Work with console monitor command (WRKCONICM) - See above Delivery types for more description.
Remote update command RMTUPDICM - See above Network for more description.
Added the ability to use multiple email addresses in icom/400 main send commands. These commands include - SNDMSGICM and SNDMAILICM.
Added email subject lines to the SNDMAILICM and SNDSPLFICM commands.
Extended the spooled file attachment name to 30 characters from 8 characters in the SNDSPLFICM command.
Attachments You can now attach a spooled file to an e-mail as a PDF as well as a TXT attachment. All you have to do is specify the file you want to send with PDF as your attachment type and icom/400 will automatically generate and send your PDF attachment for you.

Note:  This feature was also available in the 3.1 version of icom/400 but we thought it important enough to mention again.

Report Distribution Added sending PDF attachments to the SNDSPLFICM, SNDMSGICM and SNDMAILICM commands. Also, added to the spooled file monitor.

Note:  This feature was also available in the 3.1 version of icom/400 but we thought it important enough to mention again.

4.1 - PTF's

Some of the icom/400 4.1 PTF fixes include:

Added message to monitor type MONTYP screen to let users know when the monitors are held.
Updated Quick Start email screens to help user better understand how to setup icom/400 email attributes.
Fixed email bundling in the recipient setup screen.  User could not save new value.
Fixed spooled file monitor problem - Using the F5 function key would not function properly.
Fixed monitor types screen F8 problem - Using the F8 function key to add sequences to monitors would produce an error.
Fixed *MSGQ and *QHST monitor sequence error problem - When trying to add a new sequence number, error would state that sequence was already added.
Fixed WRKMAILICM command - Messages coming from Black Berries did not display correctly.
Fixed multiple help text problems.
4.1 - New Features

Some of the icom/400 4.1 new features include:

icom/400 now allows the user to be able to reply to system messages from a Black Berry device.
Added email priority feature to recipient email screens. You can now send emails with a priority status of high, low or normal.
Extended subsystem (*SBS) monitor job limit from 99 to 999.
Added user data column for the WRKSPLFICM command.
Added a way for a user to set up skipping the pinging process of email servers. This way if you have your server set to not be able to ping to for security purposes, icom/400 can be setup through a simple process to skip that part of the SMTP or POP3 process to connect to your server.
Added a way for users through special circumstances to logon to their email server through SMTP. If you need to logon using BASE64 logon information or have other special SMTP needs, icom/400, through a simple setup, will allow those procedures to be done.
4.2 - PTF's

Some of the icom/400 4.2 PTF fixes include:

Fixed multiple email problem - icom was sending duplicate email addresses in the TO: header address information line.
Fixed product code to be able to convert and run on IBM i5/OS V6R1.
Fixed QHST monitor and QHST entries screen to be able to use a system date format value of *DMY and *YMD as well as *MDY.
Fixed QHST entries problem with using an option 13 to display QHST entries.
Fixed QHST monitor problem if the date and time of the QHST system entry was blank and the monitor would not start.
Fixed a way to turn off the bookmarks for a PDF file.
4.2 - New Features

Some of the icom/400 4.2 new features include:

SNPP protocol is now an option where you can send a message to a SNPP pager.  This is using TCP/IP and is great for those wanting to get away from using a modem.
Changed the way the pager company is used.  You can now use either TAP, SNPP or both in the same record.  Advantages are if one fails, icom will try the next connection type.
Added an "On error action" to the new pager company screen.  This gives the user a way to send a failed connection type message if both TAP and SNPP fail.
Added a new option to the subsystem monitor to just check to see if a subsystem is not active (*SBS).
Added a priority email type to the action setup screen to send out a message as a *HIGH, *LOW or *NORMAL priority.
Added *MSG type to the subject parm in an action.  This gives you a way to tell the email going out that the message will be used as the subject line as well.
